IMPRESSION NEPAL
a leading central union of the workers working in ICT, media, and printing industries; legally registered under Trade Union Act 1992. IMPRESSION NEPAL is one of the important affiliates of the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT).
IMPRESSION NEPAL was established in 1980 earlier known as IPWUN – Independent Press Workers’ Union of Nepal. It was formally launched by a Conference of workers working at printing-press industries of Kathmandu Valley. It was almost underground as there was no union right in Nepal at that time. IPWUN established for the promotion and protection of the rights & interests of the printing-press workers had played a crucial and active role during the Democratic Movement of 1990 and then after.
In the new context of the digital world, things were changing every moment and human life became virtual. IPWUN and the ICT PROFESSIONALS UNION, another union of ICT professionals come to the same ground to stand together and to address the challenging issues coming up in this digitized world.
On February 10, 2018, both unions jointly conducted the national convention of the Independent Press Workers’ Union of Nepal (IPWUN) and Union of ICT Professionals in Kathmandu and became united with the theme of “A union towards the digital world”.
